Keeping it nostalgic and sentimental - I thought these labels might be handy when purchasing a book as a gift or when sharing your favorite literature with your loved ones, co-workers, neighbors, etc.
Every now and again, I check out the new and upcoming shows for Cirque du Soleil. I am a fan. *grin* And I am so excited to discover Jukari! Doesn’t it look like fun?!
It looks like you can attend a class if you live in Montreal, New York or LA. Darn!
So then…I wonder if or where you can order a flyset? Hmmm. How high is your ceiling and do you have a lot of empty space?
You can see more thrills and chills right here.
The plan after the Tahoe trip: drive to Clearlake on Friday where my husband’s uncle resides. We would meet his parents there for a little birthday celebration, but the plans changed. I received a call from my dad as we were leaving Tahoe. My great uncle Ray had passed away. Without further detail, we drove back home to Santa Rosa. Talked to my dad when we arrived at home and found out my folks were leaving the next (Saturday) morning for the LA area to support and comfort of the one left behind, Ray’s wife. So…Husband and I unpacked from Tahoe and repacked for LA, drove back to Sacramento (where my folks reside) that night, and left with them in the morning to LA. *Deep breath*
I did not spend too much time with Uncle Ray, but the few memories I have of him are very sweet. He was a gentle, kind, easy-going man. He was 91 going on 70, very welcoming, and the first to tell you the story of how he met his wife and their journey through life together. Like I said before, very sweet. He will be missed.

After one and a half weeks of being on the road with emotional highs and lows - friends, family, a birthday and a funeral…it is so nice to be home again!
Friends of ours (another husband and wife couple) that we have known for years stayed with us one night. I made celebratory blueberry lemon cupcakes with lemon meringue frosting for our husbands’ birthdays. You can find the recipe for the cupcakes here. Just one minor change in the recipe. I replaced the buttermilk with milk plus one teaspoon lemon juice. The frosting consists of 3 egg whites, 1/4 cup of organic raw sugar, and one teaspoon of lemon juice. Whip it up on high - and yum!
The next day, the husband and I took off for a few days to South Lake Tahoe for a little birthday celebration - his 35th birthday.
Our favorite signage in the area:

A little side note: the best breakfast in South Lake Tahoe is the Red Hut Cafe. I strongly recommend the coconut pancakes. *grin*
Ah….one of my instrumental favorites when the sun comes out - a quiet couple.

I love photo booth photos! I came across these beauties as I was looking through some of our old photo albums and oh goodness. Ugh! Did I mention *old*? Starting at the left, 1995, 1996, and finally 2004 - engaged. The color photos were taken inside Woolworth’s in Sacramento at the K Street Mall, which closed in the late 90s. I also remember making trips there with my grandma when I was a little girl. Does anyone have childhood memories of their neighborhood Woolworth’s?
I miss that bowling shirt.

Mocha coffee coffee cake. You can find the recipe here. I only had enough powdered sugar for a little glaze, but it did not seem to stop us from indulging. A tasty treat for breakfast.

Take a look at my new invitations via Etsy. It is a new and kind of random idea, but it hit me weeks ago as my husband and I were driving through the hills on Highway 12 and REALLY wishing for the spring season to arrive. And spring is just the beginning for long strenuous bike rides to the ocean, park, around a lake and etc. You get my drift. So why not get the word out to your friends and/or loved ones to join you in the adventure with an invitation?

Check them out or leave me a comment. What do you think? Good or bad idea? I would love to hear from you!
What can you do with an empty protein powder container? I stripped off the label, washed it inside and out, and created a label in Illustrator. I used “Tacky” Glue for each end of the label and wrapped it around the container. Then, filled the container with S’mores brownie bites - or insert the baked goods of your choice here - and sealed with the plastic lid. It makes for a nice treat. My inspiration for the label was a moth ball container (charming, eh?) from the 50s spotted at an antique store in Redding.
