Bravissimo!

As you may (or may not) know, we moved, down-sized, and after two months, I am *still* in the process of tossing, selling, and donating items.  Most of our items fall under the “tossing” category.  You name it, and between husband and myself, we most likely had a collection of it.  That may be slightly exaggerated, but it’s probably closer to the truth than you think.

One example is our small collection of magazines and department store catalogs from the 1960-70s.  Yes, these will be filed in the recycling bin (sorry, husband!), but I am grabbing some pics before I toss them.

The photos below are straight out of a 1970 issue of Redbook.

Italian…chairs…love!

Oh, also, if you are interested, I posted a few more photos from the same magazine here.

Staying Indoors

(Not entirely.  Husband and I have made the occasional evening trip to the frozen yogurt shop.  Hehe.)

For the last week (or so it seems), the weather has been unbearably hot.  Too hot for outside fun, but there is one thing that is wonderful about this type of weather and the indoors…plenty of time for sewing!

It has been nice to actually finish & complete a good handful of sewing projects.

This is my handful:  pillows, picnic blanket, tea towels, small zippered pouches, and iPad pouches (photos below).

iPad zippered pouches:

PS. Too hot = anything over 80ºF.  Kind of pathetic, right?

PSS.  Maybe the word “wimpy” comes to mind.  That’s alright…you can say it.  I won’t hear you.

Taking time away from unpacking boxes for a small package of cookies (no photos of the cookies, uhmmm…just this).  The recipes are sooo good, though – thought I would share.

I used this recipe for the sunflower seed butter and jelly cookies.  If you clicked on the link, you’ll notice that it is *peanut butter* and jelly.  I just mixed it up a little bit.  Also, use any kind of preserves you like.  I had strawberry-guava on-hand and that’s what I used.  Yum.

The lemon ricotta cookies recipe is right here.  I didn’t make the glaze, though.  So sad, I know.  The glaze would have been excellent, but I decided against it.  Two reasons: the hot weather and via USPS.  Yikes.  The glaze would look a little funky, right?

Glaze=no.  Cookies=yes.

My “Cousteau” fabric that I recently received from Spoonflower, and the small pillow that I had sewn with it.

Now…back to work!

Green Fingers

I am so happy!   I received my first fabric request via Spoonflower.  I love that she wants to make aprons and kitchen curtains out of this fabric.  What cute ideas!

A spinach smoothie for the warmer months – add one frozen banana, as much spinach as you want, almond milk, and one tablespoon of cocoa powder and blend!

Husband and I took a walk to the local nursery, King’s Nursery, over the weekend.  Quickly snapped a few shots of my favorites.  Has anybody tried this before?

Swing with the plants made by Droog.  I’ll take one for each room, please??

Pixilated

What a whirlwind of a week…actually, couple of weeks!

We were going to move this site over to Squarespace.  We set things up over there, decided it was too much work (with having very little time to devote to it), and now I am back to WordPress.

I like it here.

It feels like home – comfortable, cozy, and my needs are met.  Also, it has a slightly different look, too,  but it’s still in the works!  If you visit often, you might notice slight changes here and there as time goes by.

Once again, excuse the bad photos (I never claimed to be a photographer!), here are some of my recent projects.

Seasonal notepads in the shop:

Business cards and notepad for my parents’ business:

Raspberry marshmallows – brought these along with a flourless chocolate cake (minus the glaze + no photos) when I reunited with some good friends of mine.  It had been nine years – yikes!

Rummaging through storage boxes and found this!  It was my grandmother’s music box.  Kitschy, I know.  *grin*  It plays, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and the little mouse twirls around and around.  So cute.  It made me smile.
