This sewing project has been sitting around the house for over a year without being touched… until now! It is an extremely roomy knitting tote with cord handles, magnetic snap, contrast thread, and outer pockets – two for needles and two smaller ones for odds and ends (or more needles as shown).
I did not use a tutorial or pattern, which leaves a lot of room for mistakes and afterthoughts. So… the next one I make, I will sew in a large inner pocket to keep knitting projects and assorted notes tucked away. Great idea, huh? And probably a different choice of fabric as well, and… the list goes on.
Have I mentioned that I need a new camera? Once or twice, maybe. *grin*

Here’s a closer look…

A little side note: the thrifted, torn chair is a restoration project.

We have been visiting my folks and friends in Sacramento for the last few days. It was good to have a change of scenery and spend some quality time with loved ones. However, I neglected to post on the package I received from the ISE before we left for the trip. Better late than never, eh? My secret “scarf pal” sent me a beautifully knitted scarf and hat (too!) along with extra goodies: two skeins of Rowan yarn and extra Malabrigo for making fingerless mittens, packages of dragon fruit, pumpkin pie candles, striped ribbon, and the cutest card. She is very thoughtful and I love everything….thank you, NK!
A few of my favorite things:

The knitted scarf – I love the ruffled edge:

A little side note: if you are in the Sacramento area and love pizza with lots and lots of garlic, stop by Zelda’s. I highly recommend the pesto pizza with mushrooms or the spinoccoli – yum!
I am completely finished with the scarf + goodies package for the ISE7….yay! The person I had to knit a scarf for wanted one to wrap around her neck, head and the works! Because of the length, it was quite awkward to wash and block – especially with Thomas (see below) around! I hope she will be happy with the scarf. It is so soft! I added some extra goodies that are also some of her personal favorites: two skeins of Manos del Uruguay, a blank journal with gel pens, and Burt’s Bee lip stash.

Making a little bit of progress on my “pal’s” scarf for the ISE7. Boy, I am slow with knitting projects. The knitting goes by pretty fast, but completing the project is what takes the time. I am good for about one hour and then I need to get up and do something else. Short attention span, I guess. Hey – you could turn it into a syndrome and call it SASS – Short Attention Span Syndrome. Having plenty of “sass” almost works as a compliment, doesn’t it? Oh goodness… this is what happens when I have too much coffee and not enough sleep – pointless, random, and not-so-deep thoughts.

A short and small knitting project – the neckwarmer. I used size 11 needles and one skein of Misti Alpaca (once again!), but the color is a blue-gray mix this time around. I am not sure if you can tell in the photo, but it slightly drapes over at the top similar to a cowl neck.
Yikes! And apologies for the distracting background.

I signed up for the International Scarf Exchange once again and barely made it in. The last exchange was such a pleasant experience and so much fun….how could I resist? I stick to simple, but classic patterns….nothing fancy because I don’t knit often enough to do anything more. I can’t seem to sit still for that long. *grin*
I purchased a few skeins of chunky Misti Alpaca for the scarf – love this! You can not tell from the photos, but it is a lovely soft green color my “scarf pal” will (with hope) really like.

My progress – just started last night:
