Did you enjoy your long weekend?

Husband and I spent most our time hiking around Angel Island. We took a very pleasant, but short ride over to the island on the Tiburon Ferry (it was my first time!). When you arrive, there is a nice little café (try the fig + greens salad, if it’s still available), live music, a visitors center, gift shop, bikes to rent or bring your own, and lots of trails – everything a tourist could ask for.

Hmmm…a tourist that lives 30 minutes away? Is there such a thing?

As you may (or may not) know, we moved, down-sized, and after two months, I am *still* in the process of tossing, selling, and donating items. Most of our items fall under the “tossing” category. You name it, and between husband and myself, we most likely had a collection of it. That may be slightly exaggerated, but it’s probably closer to the truth than you think.

One example is our small collection of magazines and department store catalogs from the 1960-70s. Yes, these will be filed in the recycling bin (sorry, husband!), but I am grabbing some pics before I toss them.

Staying Indoors

(Not entirely. Husband and I have made the occasional evening trip to the frozen yogurt shop. Hehe.)

For the last week (or so it seems), the weather has been unbearably hot. Too hot for outside fun, but there is one thing that is wonderful about this type of weather and the indoors…plenty of time for sewing!

It has been nice to actually finish & complete a good handful of sewing projects.

This is my handful: pillows, picnic blanket, tea towels, small zippered pouches, and iPad pouches (photos below).

PS. Too hot = anything over 80ºF. Kind of pathetic, right?

PSS. Maybe the word “wimpy” comes to mind. That’s alright…you can say it. I won’t hear you.

Backyard Picnics

I have been looking around for just the right picnic blanket for a few weeks. And now that summer is just about over, I decided to make my own instead!

A waterproof picnic blanket – and with damask fabric for the top layer. Hmmm. That could be a big mistake.

What do you think (see photos below)? Too busy or too fancy for a picnic?

Maybe not so much, if it is just the two of you + a picnic dinner in your own backyard.
