Getting Closer

A little Nitzer Ebb reference for those old school industrial music listening enthusiasts out there. Well, it was called “industrial” back in the day, but maybe it would just be considered “alternative” by today’s standards. Oh, how I have aged!

Anyway, this post is not supposed to be about industrial music, but the scarf for the ISE (finally)! You can’t exactly tell from the photo, but I am getting pretty darn close to finishing it up. I really like how it is turning out….I just hope my swap partner likes it. She has been knitting for years and I can just picture her opening the package, taking one look at the scarf and saying, “What in the world?!” or something I would not repeat.

I am such a pessimist.

Armstrong Redwoods Revisited

Hope everybody enjoyed their extended weekend!

We started off the day with my husband making his rendition of huevos rancheros. Yum! He uses a flour tortilla, black refried beans, shredded cheese, sour cream, avocado, hot sauce or salsa and most importantly, fried eggs.

In the late afternoon, we went on a long strenuous hike at the Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve . The park is located in Guerneville, west of Santa Rosa and a very similar experience to Muir Woods….beautiful and breathtaking. During the hike, we reached Bullfrog Pond Campgrounds and according to the link above, it is supposedly a nine mile hike to reach that point. It felt like one, but quite honestly, it did not seem like it was THAT far. Maybe six miles?

The Potholder Hustle Continues

Persistence is key when it comes to learning something new that you eventually want to succeed at. So, this brings me back to the potholder. This is my second try at it, using the same fabric/patchwork. I think I did pretty well compared to my first attempt, but unfortunately, I do not feel it is gift-worthy. My trouble is with sewing the 3-inch opening you leave to turn the fabric right side out. Does anybody out there have any tips/suggestions for me?

My second try is on the right….like the light switch?

A Lotta Happening

It is taking almost a week to get back to the blog with a couple of details about the Maker Faire. Sheeeeesh! I can’t be that busy. *grin* Anyway, so I volunteered for a couple of hours in the Craft area. So I was there working…not a lot going on at that moment. I started browsing the schedule for the different craft demos and I read Simple Sewing – Lotta Jansdotter on the main stage. Oh, wow – I could not have heard better news for the time, place or day. And I could not believe this was the first time I was hearing about it – otherwise I would have brought my book for the signing. Ugh!

Mobile cupcakes! They have little bicycles inside – very clever and cute. One of the drivers had a red helmet with a stem sticking out of the top for the cherry.

My First Etsy Purchase

Yay! I received my first etsy purchase in the mail a couple of days ago from Julie Marie. I ordered a set of her lovely starry cards. Bad photo….you will have to take a look for yourself. *grin* I love her style and her blog is one of my daily reads….so I was very tickled to find the package of stationery in the mail. Thank you, Julie!
