More Plum Delights

No matter how busy life is or seems to be, there is always time to bake. For me, it is a great home stress reliever. It is very plausible to find me standing in the kitchen making cookies at ten in the evening. It’s a weird thing, but maybe some of you can relate.

Anyway, so my great experiment with plums was on Friday (obviously) making plum jam. This was my first time making jam…. and I can definitely say, well, maybe 98.9% sure…. that it is not a jam, but a syrup. *grin* There are twelve jars total. I put one in the refrigerator to test and the rest in the freezer. I tested the one in the refrigerator the next day and I think that is exactly the problem. I should have waited to open the jar!

If anybody has some insight on canning/making jam, feel free to comment…..please.

Here is the recipe. I only used 1/4 cup of the granulated sugar and added 1/2 cup of brown sugar to the recipe. I had to bake it for the full fifty minutes as well – a little note for people with gas stoves out there.

Little Polka Dot Dress

I had more than a few moments to spare over the weekend and put this together from the Tie Top Tank Tute that was mentioned in an earlier post. I kind of twisted the pattern a bit and turned it into a little girl’s dress….with polka dots!

Polka dots = smiles and so cute for children.

Also, my eBay purchase arrived – a Japanese book full of children’s clothes patterns. Too adorable for words and unfortunately, photos as well. Yeah…that is correct. I did not take photos of the inside….ugh! Well, I will get around to it, but for right now I am taking on two sewing projects from the book – felt baby shoes + baby bloomers.

Vega-Tables

Any “Smile” fans out there?

Wow… it seems like a long time since I have popped in here. And sadly enough, nothing too exciting has happened between now and then. Although, I am working again (and that is really exciting!) so I do not have as much spare time to blog, sew, craft, and etc.

I have enough time to go to the market, but I really like the organic produce delivery service monthly from Capay Organic. It is quite a treat! I order the small box, which is plenty for two. This month’s package included a honeydew (very sweet and yum!), cherry tomatoes, green beans, grapes, and basil. They also include some recipes with their newsletter – a little extra bonus. *grin*
