Summer

I know…it is still winter and here I am typing about summer.  What am I thinking?  I posted on a “seasons” illustration not too long ago and lately, I have been experimenting with different formats/papers with the summer design.  Really wanting to have an old, worn (but not too worn) feel and look.  I am afraid the “too worn” is what happened – see below.  Any thoughts?

It is printed on a canvas cardstock and sheets of neapolitan ice cream colors are on the inside.  Sewn together for someone’s writing pleasures – a seasonal journal.

Kleenex and Knitting Progress

Have your design printed onto your very own Kleenex tissue box here.

Making a little bit of progress on my “pal’s” scarf for the ISE7.  Boy, I am slow with knitting projects.  The knitting goes by pretty fast, but completing the project is what takes the time.  I am good for about one hour and then I need to get up and do something else.  Short attention span, I guess.  Hey – you could turn it into a syndrome and call it SASS – Short Attention Span Syndrome.   Having plenty of “sass” almost works as a compliment, doesn’t it?   Oh goodness… this is what happens when I have too much coffee and not enough sleep – pointless, random, and not-so-deep thoughts.

Charlie + Packages of Baked Goods

Finally winding down from a week in Redding and having some friends stay with us the other night.   One after the other.  Nothing stressful, but it is nice to be home again.  While in Redding, my husband and I were dog-sitting for his parents – a yellow lab named Charlie.  Pretty cute, eh?  He’s friendly too.

Another hike at Whiskeytown Falls:

More importantly *grin*, packaged baked goods for family and friend:

Peppermint Goodness

I know it’s a little late to be posting on holiday recipes, but does it really matter? Does peppermint always have to be associated with Christmas?   Nah.   So, for the love of stripes….this is the candy cane chocolate chip cookie.  Directions:  take your favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe and add crushed candy canes.   *grin*  Seriously, you can find the true recipe on my “Recipes” page.  In place of the candy canes, I used crushed chocolate-filled peppermint snaps from Williams-Sonoma.  We received them as a gift – thanks again, T!

If you are looking for more creative ways to use your leftover candy cane stash, here is another recipe via W-S.

Notecards + Tiles

The idea of adding a little 2×2 tile with a package of notecards sounds nice to me.  My husband introduced me to Teeny Tile – I am not sure if he knows what a mistake that was, but anyhow…I am hooked!  The tiles come with a magnetic backing so you can hang them on your refrigerator, filing cabinet, and so on.  Or if you are feeling really crafty – you can do something like this.

Something Cozy

A short and small knitting project – the neckwarmer.  I used size 11 needles and one skein of Misti Alpaca (once again!), but the color is a blue-gray mix this time around.  I am not sure if you can tell in the photo, but it slightly drapes over at the top similar to a cowl neck.

Yikes!  And apologies for the distracting background.
