I am completely finished with the scarf + goodies package for the ISE7….yay! The person I had to knit a scarf for wanted one to wrap around her neck, head and the works! Because of the length, it was quite awkward to wash and block – especially with Thomas (see below) around! I hope she will be happy with the scarf. It is so soft! I added some extra goodies that are also some of her personal favorites: two skeins of Manos del Uruguay, a blank journal with gel pens, and Burt’s Bee lip stash.

I caught up with a friend at the only cupcakery in Sonoma County, Sift. We ordered coffee and cupcakes to go – her treat! It was very nice of her. Thanks again! I chose two flavors (this was before I knew it was her treat): peanut butter ripple – a chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting and ooh la la – a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. I split them into halves and shared them with my husband that evening. Yum! They were so tasty. Oh, and don’t mind the smushed frosting in the first photo – the cupcakes were tossed a bit from the drive home. Insert my father’s favorite jokes about my driving here. *grin*

Like I said above, their cupcakes are great, but they are in need of a new “logo” design. Does anybody else agree or am I just being rude? Or both? Hmm…maybe I can offer some free assistance? The first thing to go would be the “S” on the cupcake wrapper. Okay. I am done now.

…and choose from any three!

My husband and I went out on a rainy day to a few antique stores in Healdsburg and found this wonderful children’s book: Let’s Take A Walk, designed by Aaron Heller and illustrated by Robert Deschamps, published in 1963. I am usually not one to promote books with just pictures in them – especially for children, but this was an exception. I love the hand lettering!

My shop is now open!
Wow…I joined Etsy in 2007 and finally, the first three note card designs are now available. It is very, very modest and lacks a bit on information regarding policies and etc, but feel free to contact me at jenATpancakesfordinnerDOTcom with any questions or comment here. I have never done this before, so your feedback, thoughts and even criticism will be appreciated! I will post more designs and updates soon so please keep checking back.
The last heart-related post….I promise. *grin*
I believe this is the second or third time that I have made brownies in my lifetime. I don’t know why. Too rich and fatty? The thickness? Anyway, I was looking for something heart-shaped to bake and found this brownie recipe from Martha Stewart. Oh, yum! This is a good one. What is even better….I added a combination of semi-sweet and bittersweet chocolate chips and chopped pecans to the mix. Enough to make you sick, eh? Topped them with a drizzle of caramel and (more!) chocolate. Result: really bad stomach ache. Suggestion: share one (and only one) brownie with a loved one.
Unfortunately, no photo of the end result, but here are the brownie heart cutouts:
