Taking time away from unpacking boxes for a small package of cookies (no photos of the cookies, uhmmm…just this).  The recipes are sooo good, though – thought I would share.

I used this recipe for the sunflower seed butter and jelly cookies.  If you clicked on the link, you’ll notice that it is *peanut butter* and jelly.  I just mixed it up a little bit.  Also, use any kind of preserves you like.  I had strawberry-guava on-hand and that’s what I used.  Yum.

The lemon ricotta cookies recipe is right here.  I didn’t make the glaze, though.  So sad, I know.  The glaze would have been excellent, but I decided against it.  Two reasons: the hot weather and via USPS.  Yikes.  The glaze would look a little funky, right?

Glaze=no.  Cookies=yes.

My “Cousteau” fabric that I recently received from Spoonflower, and the small pillow that I had sewn with it.

Now…back to work!

Happy Valentine’s Day

Celebratory chocolate coconut shortbread hearts (weird combination?) – I used the ingredients for the chocolate dough from this recipe:

In love with my new, but thrifted, chipped ceramic container:

Handmade valentine (more photos and link in the next post):

We are heading off to the local cat show tomorrow and then eating at this Indian restaurant with friends of ours.

Quite the romantics, aren’t we?  *grin*

Have a lovely weekend!

Charlie + Packages of Baked Goods

Finally winding down from a week in Redding and having some friends stay with us the other night.   One after the other.  Nothing stressful, but it is nice to be home again.  While in Redding, my husband and I were dog-sitting for his parents – a yellow lab named Charlie.  Pretty cute, eh?  He’s friendly too.

Another hike at Whiskeytown Falls:

More importantly *grin*, packaged baked goods for family and friend:

Peppermint Goodness

I know it’s a little late to be posting on holiday recipes, but does it really matter? Does peppermint always have to be associated with Christmas?   Nah.   So, for the love of stripes….this is the candy cane chocolate chip cookie.  Directions:  take your favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe and add crushed candy canes.   *grin*  Seriously, you can find the true recipe on my “Recipes” page.  In place of the candy canes, I used crushed chocolate-filled peppermint snaps from Williams-Sonoma.  We received them as a gift – thanks again, T!

If you are looking for more creative ways to use your leftover candy cane stash, here is another recipe via W-S.

Gifts of Goodies

Same cookies as in the last post, but different packaging.  I thought they looked nice enough to post… so here they are:

Thomas on the go (notice the really cool chair in the background *grin*):

Rainy Days

I am a cuckoo.  It is a very wet and rainy day here and I love it!  Two reasons and not in this order.  One:  it gives you an excuse to put on the kettle for tea or hot chocolate, bundle yourself up in a blanket and read, knit, bake, hug your cat or whatever you like to do.  I started another knitting project!  It has taken me a year or so to even think about knitting again.  Ugh.  I guess it takes the chillier months to make me pick up the needles again.   Two: take the umbrella (if you have snow – take the snowshoes) and go for a walk.  Nothing should stop a person from enjoy the outdoors – rain or snow – right?  Refer back to the first sentence if you happen to disagree.  *grin*

Goodie packages sent out:
